Dzhemilev became a laureate of the Polish "Solidarity" award

The leader of the Crimean Tatar people, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev became the laureate of the prestigious Polish Prize of Solidarity. This was announced by his assistant Leila Muslimova.

“This year, the Solidarity Prize will be first awarded for merits in the struggle for freedom, democracy and human rights,” she said. At the award ceremony, which will be held on June 4 in Warsaw on the 25th anniversary of the first partially free parliamentary elections in post-war Poland, the participation of the presidents of Poland, the USA and France is planned.

President of Poland Bronislav Komorovsky and former chairman of the Solidarity trade union, ex-president of Poland, Nobel Laureate Lech Valens will be awarded the prize to the famous dissident and human rights activist.

The monetary equivalent of the award is 1 million euros. The reward consists of three parts. 250 thousand euros are awarded to the laureate. 50 thousand will be spent on the visit of the winner to Poland to show him the country and the results of its struggle for freedom. In addition, the laureate will be able to determine the programs for the financing of which the remaining 700 thousand will go.

The Russian authorities prevent Dzhemilev’s entry into the Crimea. He made the last in time on May 3. Dzhemilev intended to stop the border by car in the access point "Turkish Val" in Armenian. Thousands of Crimean Tatars broke through the cordon of Russian special forces and met Dzhemilev at the checkpoint in Armenian.Dzhemillev was never missed to the Crimea. The entrance to the peninsula was blocked by the Russian military on Urals and armored personnel carriers. After that, the Crimean Tatars began to block the tracks on the territory of the peninsula.

Dzhemilev himself said that if the Russian authorities do not cancel his ban, then she will have to constantly face protests of the Crimean Tatars. He also said that the Turkish authorities expressed his readiness to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future andhelp to remove the ban on his return to Crimea .

On May 4, the Prosecutor of Crimea Natalya Poklonskaya announced to the chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov a warning about the inadmissibility of conducting extremist activities . If the violations are not eliminated, the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people will be liquidated and their activities in Russia will be prohibited, Poklonskaya noted.
