Composer Alexander Flyarkovsky died

Today, May 8, composer Alexander Flyarkovsky died in Moscow at the age of 82.

Alexander Georgievich Flyarkovsky was born in 1931, graduated from the Moscow Church School (1949) and the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class (1955).

In 1955, Flyarkovsky’s song “Your Window” received a premium of the competition for the best song about Moscow. After that, the composer works a lot in the genre of mass song, a number of his works have gained wide popularity.

Back in his student years, Alexander Flyarkovsky participated in a folklore expedition to the Bryansk region and recorded about 100 songs there. In the future, he collected and recorded folk songs in Altai and in other regions, processed for choral singing. In 1970, at the World Book Fair in Canada, Flyarkovsky presented the collection “100 Russian Folk Songs”.

The author of more than 300 songs, including by fifteen feature films, ten animated ones, several documentary. He also wrote symphonic poems, operettas, oratorios, choral works.

In recent years, Alexander Flyarkovsky served as a professor at the Department of Musicology of the State Musical and Pedagogical Institute named after Ippolitova-Ivanova.
