In the south-east of Ukraine, against the backdrop of battles and a rampant of banditry, several "referenda" on the status of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions took place at once. The separatist cycles reported on a record turnout, although eyewitnesses claim that the population ignored the vote, and most of the plots did not even open. The militants also lost control of the Red Army.
