
The Bolshoi Theater of Russia submitted plans for a new, 238th season, and also announced his intention to hold a Baroque music festival and the Big Cirders in Bolshoi concert cycle.
As the director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin told ITAR-TASS , promising plans for several seasons ahead are determined. In the coming years, the theater will continue the development of Russian and world classics, and will also turn to creativity rarely executed and even never at all sounded in large composers. Among them were named, in particular, Gandel, Berlioz, Janachek, Weinberg.
At the end of this season, the Bolshoi Theater will present two premieres-Mozart’s opera “All women, or the school of lovers do this” (May 24, musical director and conductor Stefano Montanari, director of Floris Wisser) and ballet “Taming the obstinate” (July 4, choreographer Jean-Cristofa May).
The first premiere of the new season - the opera of Tchaikovsky "Orleans Virgo" in a concert performance - will be presented on September 26 on the historical stage. In 2015, the 175th birthday of the composer will be celebrated, and several productions of the theater are associated with the upcoming anniversary.
Among them is the Queen of Spades. “This performance will be postponed from the Paris Opera, where it was set by Leo Dodin in the scenery of David Borovsky,” Urin said. The premiere will take place on December 27, 2015 on a historical stage. Mikhail Yurovsky will conduct the performance.
In April 2015, Mozart’s “Figaro Wedding” will be shown (conductor William Leisi, director Evgeny Pisarev, artist Zinovy Margolin), in July 2015 - “Carmen” Bizet (conductor Tugan Sokhiev, director Alexei Borodin, artist Stanislav Benedictov).
Among the ballet premieres, Urin identified the new version of “Legends of Love” by Yuri Grigorovich, the first show of which was scheduled for October 23 on the historical stage. According to the general director, the large line will continue the line of modern choreography - specially for the theater will be created the Hamlet ballet to the music of Shostakovich (choreographer Rad Poklitar, director Declan Donnellan, artist Nick Ormerod). The premiere is scheduled for March 2015.
Another world premiere in July next year will be the ballet “Hero of our time” to the music of the St. Petersburg composer Igor Demutsky. (choreographer Yuri Posokhov, director, artist and author of the libretto on the works of Mikhail Lermontov - Kirill Serebrennikov).
The concert program has a new project called "Big Condermoners in Bolshoi." Semen Bychkov will open it on December 14 on the historical stage, the following in the cycle on March 31, 2015 will be Gennady Rozhdestvensky.
Another long-term project of the Bolshoi Theater from the 239th season will be a festival dedicated to the Baroque era (the working name “Baroque. Travel”), for which programs from Arie Antiche Italian composers of the 17th-18th centuries, arias and ensembles of Handel, Cantata and Oratorio of Bach will be prepared.
