Former chief of security Putin headed the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Colonel General Viktor Zolotov was appointed head of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported on the Kremlin website.

In 1999, Zolotov headed the security service of Vladimir Putin, who then held the post of Prime Minister of Russia. From 2000 to 2013, Zolotov headed the Presidential Protection Service and was deputy head of the Federal Security Service. Since 2009, the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were headed by Nikolai Rogozhkin, on May 12, appointed President’s envoy in the Siberian Federal District.

At the same time, the Kremlin replaced the leaders of a number of other law enforcement agencies. Alexander Savvenkov became the head of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who since 2009 represented the Vladimir Region in the Federation Council. Earlier, the department was headed by Yuri Alekseev.

The Main Directorate of Economic Security and Combating Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was headed by Dmitry Mironov. The former head of the department Denis Svugrobov is currently under investigation. He is suspected of organizing a criminal community, organizing a provocation of a bribe and nine episodes of abuse of power with grave consequences.

Alekseev and Sugrobov were dismissed from their posts in February 2014. According to the media , their dismissal was the result of the conflict and the “war of compromising” with each other.
