
Today, May 14, the film “Princess of Monaco” (Grace of Monaco) with Nicole Kidman in the role of Grace Kelly opens the 67th International Cannes Film Festival.
In the main competition program of the festival of 18 films from 11 countries of the world, including Leviathan Andrei Zvyagintsev and the new works of Nuri Bilge Jaylan (Turkey), David Kronenberg (Canada), the Beligs Brothers, Jean-Luka Godard (France) and other directors. The schedule of special shows includes the documentary of Sergey Loznitsa "Maidan".
This year, the films of the main competitive program will be evaluated by the jury led by the New Zealand writer and film director Jane Campion.
In the "Special View" section, 19 films will be presented, which will judge the jury led by the Argentine director Pablo Trapero. Nine films - including for the first time in the history of the Cannes festival, the work of Azerbaijani and Georgian directors - claim a “gold palm branch” in a short nomination. The winner will be presented to the winner by the chairman of the jury of the short -meter contest Abbas Kiarons.
Also, among the festival programs, the student work section Cinéfondation , the Cannes Classics, whose honorary guest will be Sophia Loren, “two -week directors”, “Week of Critics” and others.
In the Russian pavilion on the Cannes Kilking Markhé du Film , in particular, they will show the program of the best Russian short films of the year Global Russians , and on May 18 there will be an evening of memory of the deceased directed by Alexei Balabanov.
The laureates of the 67th International Cannes Film Festival will be announced on May 24, the closing ceremony will be held on May 25.
