Kinogos Union requires the release of Oleg Sentsov

The Union of Cinematographers and Professional Cinematographic Organizations and the Associations of Russia (Kinoil) appealed to the FSB demanding that Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov immediately release.

On May 11, he was detained by the FSB in Simferopol and transported to Moscow. The director is accused of terrorism .

In the appeal signed by the chairman of the cinema union, the director and screenwriter Andrei Proshkin, it is told about the films of Oleg Sentsov, who brought him the prizes of international festivals, as well as that the filming of his new film “The participation of Russian actors and filmmakers of other specialties was assumed”.

“The arrest and retention of Oleg Sentsov without charges within a week has already caused serious damage to the image of our country in the international arena. - says the movie union. “Appeals on the liberation of Oleg Sentsov are signed and published by leading cinematographers of the world in the largest international and business publications.”

“We consider it necessary to bring to you the point of view of the Union of filmmakers and professional organizations and associations of Russia about the inadmissibility of such measures and the dangers that these measures cause the reputation of our country. We demand the immediate liberation of the film director Oleg Sentsov, ”the appeal says.
