
Moscow took 5th place among the most expensive cities in the world included in the study of the City of Opportunity , PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). The Russian capital was ahead of Shanghai, San Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Beijing in terms of price level.
In the general rating of PWC, Moscow this year sank to one step to 21st place. In total, the 2014 list included 30 cities, which became the maximum indicator in the history of the study.
According to the authors of the study, in 2014 Moscow left the first dozens of cities in terms of economic influence, taking the 11th line. In terms of GDP, the capital of the Russian Federation sank into four positions to 16th place over the year. According to the number of capital construction projects, Moscow fell into the top ten, ahead of Shanghai, Hong Kong and New York, and according to direct foreign investments-divided the 7th line with Paris, overtaking Tokyo and New York.
The leader of the general ranking for the first time became London. The capital of Great Britain also became the only city that took first place in three out of ten categories of research: “Economic influence”, “City as a world center of attraction” and “level of technological readiness”.
New York took second place in the list, Singapore-the third. The five leaders also included Toronto and San Francisco.
