The leadership of the Twitter microblogs service is considering the possibility of acquiring SoundCloud audio chopping. It is reported by Recode .
Officially, this information was not confirmed, both companies refused to comment on a possible transaction.
Meanwhile, the German publication Spiegel Online (SoundCloud is based in Berlin) with reference to his own informed sources wrote that Twitter really showed interest in SoundCloud, but is not ready to purchase it.
Twitter, released in the fall of 2013 at an IPO, never hid his interest in the musical industry. The company even tried to launch its own Twitter Music application, but the startup failed and was closed in March 2014. Recode notes that another incentive for the acquisition of SoundCloud can be the fears of Twitter leadership about the slownessed growth of the audience of the microblogging service.
SoundCloud is a free hosting for sound files and informally positions itself as “YouTube for audio”. SoundCloud was launched in 2007. In October 2013, the Service Administration stated that more than 250 million people use it.
