There is a famous story about the football goalkeeper Alexei Khomich, who, at a reception in England in 1945, began his speech as follows: “Lady and Hamiltons!” This is not surprising: the 1942 film “Lady Hamilton” with a magic Vivien Lee was then on everyone's lips. The language often throws us the usual combinations, ready replicas and various kinds of cliches. Sometimes at the same time forcing us to involuntarily tell something important about ourselves and our time.
And what can we say about poetry. As Irina Odoevtseva once wrote about how the Blok was listening for the first time, "the Tyutchevsky stanza is already sounding in my head stuffed with poems." Indeed, in the head of a person (well, not everyone, of course, but one that loves poetry) poetic lines spin, mix, apply one on another, shine through each other. Recently, I suddenly recalled the line of Arseny Tarkovsky as a madman with a razor in his hand - and at the same time Akhmatovskaya came up before a cute guest with a hand of a hand. Both I knew all my life, but for the first time they compatible in my head.
Why am I telling all this. The poet Alexander Kushner once wrote an ode Valentina Matvienko, who was then the governor of St. Petersburg. There, in particular, it is said: it’s easy to criticize-go, / get into the trench, take it to the tower, / Find the investors, / Domashko’s writers, / and in the morning, getting up at the eighth o’clock, / Beauty and fellow, / In a woman’s tears, / rises on Valentine’s watch (2007). [1]
It is unnecessary to say that we love him not only for this, but now this is not about him at all. When the poet announced his work, Valentina Ivanovna made a return word in which she discovered her acquaintance with the earliest work of Kushner, quoting: they do not choose times, / they live and win. As usual, the favorite lines during quoting were subjected to involuntary radical editing. Instead of the contemplative , they live and die, which was in the original text, in the new version, peppy and life -affirming appeared and win.
Here, of course, the point is not only the difference in existential attitudes, but also in the insidiousness of the language. It is quite obvious from where it suddenly jumped out and won: this is the well -known maxim of Lenin’s business lives and wins. It was probably affected by the Komsomol youth of Valentina Ivanovna, does not let go.
Of course, in the very combination to live and win nothing of such a unique and unique, and it was found in the language and before the thesis about Lenin’s work: the Russian army is alive and will live and win. [P. N. Krasnov. From the two -headed eagle to the Red Banner (1922)]; On the contrary, such relations between the army mass and its supreme leader cannot be recognized as normal for the army that can live and win ... [N. N. Sukhanov. Notes about the revolution (1918-1921)]; One hundred Lina ideas of friendship between peoples and the struggle for peace live and win. [P. Firsov. The Soviet Army is a stronghold of peace and the security of peoples // Science and Life, 1950]; There is no Stalin with us, but his business lives and wins, ”said Academician A. Nesmeyanov, addressing Soviet scientists. [Moscow in mourning (1953) // "Evening Moscow", 1953.03.07]. But all these were single and disparate use. But after the report of Comrade L.I. Brezhnev at a joint solemn meeting of the Central Committee of the CPSU, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the Supreme Council of the RSFSR on April 21, 1970, dedicated to the centenary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, which was called so [L. I. Brezhnev. Lenin’s case lives and wins (1970) // Pravda, 1970.04.22], the expression went to the people. In the modern language, this is already real, as they say, a meme: a combination (someone's) the case lives and wins or simply lives and wins in a variety of occasions, to the place and not to the place: the diesel engine lives and wins the exposure of the Jaguar company at all, unrelated sports KH <. ..>, and the modernized sedan of the model s with a 2.7-liter turbodiesel. ["Drive", 2004.04.15]; “ The Putin phrase“ Chekists are not former ”lives and wins,” Olga Krystanovskaya believes. [Moscow News, 2003]; The Stanislavsky system still lives, wins and remains the cornerstone of the Russian theater school. [Izvestia, 2003.01.17]; Koch's wand lives and wins. In May, the Moscow Duma is going to hear the draft law on the protection of the population from tuberculosis. ["Capital", 1997.04.15]; The brides are stolen even in the capital - the case of the heroes of the “Caucasian captive” lives and wins. [Labor-7, 2007.02.10]; Bruce Willis's case lives and wins [the Yankees still shot a comet // Komsomolskaya Pravda, 2005.07.04]; Suppose that the RNA colony lives and wins. [RNA-Mir. Program "Gordon" (NTV) (2003)].
By the way, in 1970 I just went to school, and for me it lives and wins more than a certain coloring. And in combination with the next line of greater vulgarity in the world, there is no more than to beg and foam it looks absolutely comic. So it is very rightly noted in the same text: tight hugs are strong. Time is leather, not a dress. / Deep is his seal. As if from the fingers, the features of it and the folds and the folds, / taking a closer look, can be removed.
To live and die - of course, a much more free combination, it is a very natural contrast pair, and it is constantly found, including in verses: I will lose everything when I lose my dice, / I am looking for happiness in it, I live and die. [M. M. Kheraskov. “Kohl will be in my life I am punished by poverty ...” (1760)]. Although, perhaps, in the Kushner lines you can hear the echo of Griboedovsky: Kuzma Petrovich! Peace be upon him!/ - What an aces in Moscow live and die! But by the way, a ridiculous roll call with Griboedov is more likely in Mayakovsky: approach the eyes, separation of the slurry, / My heart is with my heart to mock me! / I would like to live and die in Paris, / if there were no such land - Moscow. Well, I say, with verses always like that. It is worth starting - and one pulls another, and so on to infinity.
