Prince Charles compared Putin with Hitler

The Prince of the Wales Charles, who is on a visit to Canada, compared Russian President Vladimir Putin with Adolf Hitler. It is reported by the Daily Mail.

Commenting in a private conversation Russian policy against Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, Prince Wales remarked: "And now Putin does almost the same thing that Hitler did."

Prince Charles said this phrase during a visit to the Canadian Museum of Immigration in Galifax. The tour for him was conducted by 78-year-old Mariene Ferguson. She arrived in Canada at the age of 13 from Poland. Some of her relatives died during the Holocaust.

Ferguson confirmed the BBC that the prince really told her these words. “He asked when I arrived in Canada. I said, in 1939. He threw the phrase that Putin was doing some things that Hitler did before. I agreed with the prince: you see how he was capturing countries - just as Hitler did. The prince did not particularly say anything about Russia itself,” she said.

The press service of Prince Charles said that they would not comment on the prince's private conversation. However, in Clarens House, the residence of members of the Royal Family of Great Britain, nevertheless, clarified: "It was a private, soulful conversation with a lady who lost his family in the Holocaust."

Russia has not yet reacted to the words of Prince Charles.

In March, when Moscow began to issue Russian passports to residents of Crimea, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held the same parallel between Putin and Hitler. “Does this not remind you of an eye?” Said Clinton. “Hitler did the same in the 1930s.”
