On May 23, at 10:00 in the Zamoskvoretsky court, the Memorial human rights center appeals the requirement to register with a foreign agent. According to the prosecutor’s representation , the “memorial” violates the Law on NGOs and should register in the register of “foreign agents”.
The past meeting was scheduled for April 15. Representatives of the plaintiff waited for about two hours, after which they learned that the case was transferred to Judge Elena Perepechina (previously considered by Yana Shemyakina). Perenchchina transferred the meeting to May 23, since she needed time to get acquainted with the materials.
The beginning of the consideration of the case was essentially repeatedly postponed at the request of the plaintiff. Lawyers of the Memorial noted that complaints about the law on "foreign agents" were filed in the Constitutional Court of Russia and the ECHR and it is necessary to wait for at least one of these complaints. On April 8, the KS recognized the law as constitutional, so on May 23 the Zamoskvoretsky court will most likely begin consideration of the case on the merits.
