The case was opened under part 1 of Article 141 (violation of the procedure for financing the election campaign) and part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale).

According to the TFR, the investigation "has reason to believe" that in the summer of 2013 the functionaries stole over 10 million rubles transferred by the inhabitants of Russia and foreign countries to the pre -election campaign of Navalny.

In July last year, each of the suspects transferred 1 million rubles to Navalny’s election account. Then they called on Internet users to transfer money to them to further financing the candidate’s campaign, as well as to reimburse their own funds transferred to Navalny's account. It is alleged that after this call for electronic wallets of the suspects received over 10 million rubles, which, according to the "assumption" of the department, were stolen.

Also, the TFR said that the investigation sent requests to the tax service for verification regarding the suspects. It was explained that the agency wants to establish the sources of their income, as well as receive information about the expenditure of funds allocated to the Navalny election campaign.

"The involvement of other persons in these crimes is established," the TFR reported. It was also said that the qualifications of the actions of the suspects are specified, "including taking into account their compliance with tax legislation."

Ashurkov is a high -ranking functioner of the Party of Progress, headed by Navalny. Lyaskin is the head of the capital's branch of this party. Yankauskas - party functionary on December 5, a municipal deputy from the metropolitan district of Zyuzino. Lyaskin and Yankauskas - the last as a non -partisan candidate - in mid -May entered the main list of the Coalition for Moscow in the elections to the Moscow City Duma.
