The exhibition of Albert Soldatov will be held in the Manege

From May 29 to June 15, an exhibition of the artist Albert Soldatov “Triumph” will be held in the Central Exhibition Hall “Manege” in Moscow.

In a series of works included in the exhibition “Triumph”, Albert Soldatov concentrates on the contradictions between the public space, subordinate to the system of conventions, and the internal, private space, where the person is left to himself, the artist Dmitry Venkov tells about the exhibition.

In 3D-shapes of interiors of soldiers, it embeds a music video that violates the static peace of perfect living rooms and bedrooms. From the radio tables scattered in the exhibition space, the voice of Andrei Monastyrsky is heard, which violates the atmosphere of home comfort, bringing vague anxiety and existential anxiety that breaks through the layers of everyday.

The wall, sofa and soft chairs complement the work and offer the audience to plunge into their own “comfort zone” or, as in the video of the “celebration” of the same name, cut off from the rest of the exposure, like a refuge, to go through all the stages of the festive event: from the red path-to an infinite corridor, which extends through a public toilet.

The heroes of the video of Soldatov are immobilized and closed in the interiors of private apartments, from where it is possible to come out only to make an absurd ritual, as the character of the work “at dusk” does. In private with them, they should find new life strategies: to practice the Taoist U-Wei, the principle of non-activity, or to become idiots turned off from public life, or just loafers drowning in the bliss of country radio stations, or ordinary domestic cats.

The exhibition takes place as part of the “Big Hopes” cycle, created as a platform for visual experiments and media innovations of young Russian artists
