Trial of Sergey Mokhnatkin

On May 27, at 11:00 in the Tver District Court of Moscow, hearing on the merits of the criminal case against a civil activist, the former political prisoner Sergei Mokhnatkin, will continue. He is accused of attacking police officers. The process is conducted by judge Alexei Stekliev.

At the previous meeting at the end of April, Stekliev deleted Mokhnatkin from the hall for improper behavior at the request of the lawyer and the prosecutor. Hearing the refusal of the judge to take the defender to his intended purpose, Mokhnatkin began to express his obscene, spit into a lawyer and threaten him with reprisals. The defendant insisted that he would represent himself in court on his own.

The trial was the victim of the police, Sergei Shorin, who received a slap in the face during the December campaign "Strategy-31", and police officer Tatyana Grigorenko, who also accused Mokhnatkina of applying violence in relation to her.

The appointed lawyer said that he intends to prove the complete innocence of his client. At the same time, he did not exclude that another defender would replace him.

Mokhnatkin was detained at the December strategy-31 campaign and two days later arrested. Two affairs were initiated against him under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code (the use of non -hazardous violence to a representative of the authorities), which later combined into one production. According to the first episode, the victim is a colonel of the 2nd Opera of the Main Directorate of Moscow Sergey Shorin, according to the second - an employee of the same regiment, whose name did not appear in open sources. Mokhnatkin threatens up to five years in the colony.

In June 2010, Mokhnatkin was sentenced to two and a half years in a colony settlement on similar charges. He was found guilty of attacking a policeman on December 31, 2009 on strategy-31 shares. In the colony, he was repeatedly placed in a schizo and PCT (a chamber type, that is, an internal prison), Mokhnatkin held long hunger strikes. In April 2012, he was pardoned by President Dmitry Medvedev. Since the summer of 2013, Mokhnatkin has participated in the process in the "swamp business" as a public defender Sergei Krivov.
