The Parliament of Abkhazia called on the president of the ankvab to resign

The Parliament of Abkhazia expressed distrust to Prime Minister Leonid Lakebay and turned to President Alexander Ankvabu with a call to voluntarily resolve the powers of the head of the republic. This is reported by Interfax.

The resolution indicates that the decision of the parliament was made in connection with the current tense socio-political situation and in order to maintain national consent and stability of the state.

Earlier on Thursday, participants in the perpetual protest rally held in front of the building of the President of Abkhazia accepted the memorandum. It sets out the main tasks of the opposition forces of the republic.

The main goal is proclaimed "the construction of a stable developed state." The opposition considers it necessary for this to carry out cardinal reforms in the Republic. The country cannot "continue to go with the flow, relying only on the subsidy of friendly Russia, this is the path to nowhere," is emphasized in the document.

"First of all, the reforms will affect the political system and elections. The president’s power should be legally limited and more evenly distributed between the branches of power," the memorandum said. The activities of officials should become public and open. They intend to oblige them to publish declarations of expenses.

Russia considers the events of recent days exclusively an internal affair of sovereign Abkhazia. This was announced on Thursday by the assistant to the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov, who visited Abkhazia on a working visit. "The President of Abkhazia and the opposition said that the exit from the crisis should be found within the legal field, democratic procedures and traditions of the Abkhaz people. Russia is interested in a peaceful and speedy solution to problems and restoring order in fraternal Abkhazia," Surkov emphasized.

On Wednesday, the Abkhaz opposition held a thousands of a rally and captured the buildings of the Presidential and National Television Administration. Protesters cracked the resignations of the entire leadership of the republic. They are outraged by a high level of corruption and inappropriate use of funds entering Abkhazia as Russian assistance. President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab is also accused of an authoritarian style of government.

The head of the republic regarded what was happening as "an attempt by power seizure of power by the armed way."
