Putin, Lukashenko and Nazarbayev formed the Eurasian Economic Union

The leaders of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko and Nursultan Nazarbayev signed an agreement on the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union in Astana. It is reported by RIA "Novosti". As Gazeta.ru clarifies , now this document must ratify the legislative bodies of the three states. After that, from January 1, 2015, the EAEU will begin to function.

The signed agreement has 600 pages. It consists of two parts. The first - institutional - sets out the goals of the creation of the EAEU, and also determines its legal status as an international organization. In the second - functional - the obligations of the three countries regarding further integration on the industry principle were recorded. In particular, three countries undertake to guarantee the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor, as well as to conduct a coordinated policy in industries such as energy, industry, agriculture, and transport.

Earlier, Putin stated that the presence of a single Eurasian market in the context of an unstable global situation becomes one of the key factors in the growth of the economy of the three countries. "It is not so much external demand as the demand within the Customs Union ensures the loading of our enterprises in various industries, in agriculture, in the service sector," he said.

It is assumed that the EAEU will be expanded. The intention to join him was expressed by Armenian Presidents Serge Sargsyan and Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev. Sargsyan expressed a desire to sign an agreement on the accession of his country to the EAEU until June 15. Atambayev, for his part, remarked: "The New Year, of course, we would like to meet in the Eurasian Economic Union."
