© Channel OneThe National Council of Electronic Mass Media of Latvia (NSSMI) imposed an administrative fine of 3.6 thousand euros for the first Baltic Canal (PBC) for the broadcast of the Vremya information program of the Russian Channel One.
After analyzing the contents of the program from February 25 to 26 and March 1, 2 and 4, the Council came to the conclusion that the plots contain biased events in Ukraine, in particular during riots in Kiev, ITAR-TASS reports.
“Such stories can form an opinion that neo -Nazis and Nazis illegally seized power in Ukraine,” explains NSSMI.
In the broadcasting grid of the Russian -speaking Channel PBC up to 70% of the airtime is occupied by the programs and films of Channel One.
In early April, the decision made by the NSSMI to restrict the relay of the Rossiya RTR television channel on the territory of the Latvia of the RTR television channel entered into force. According to the department, in the period from March 2 to 17, information containing signs of military propaganda was distributed in the programs of the channel. This decision is challenged in the Riga Administrative Court.
