© VGTRKThe state media holding VGTRK agreed with the social network VKontakte on the transfer of rights to legal display on the social network of the video content belonging to the VGTRK.
We are talking about several tens of thousands of hours of video, Izvestia reports with reference to the deputy general director of VGTRK Dmitry Mednikov.
“Almost all of our content is already in VKontakte, but it is placed there illegally, after the transfer of rights, content will be replaced by legal,” Mednikov explained.
He added that now representatives of the two companies are discussing and drawing up a standard contract. According to the Deputy General Director of the VGTRK, participants in the agreement plan to earn money at the advertisement on the social network. Paid subscription will not be introduced yet.
Mednikova also said that, according to the results of cooperation with VKontakte, VGTRK will decide on the appropriateness of similar agreements with torrent trackers.
Last year, VKontakte agreed with the company Amedia on the removal of its film products from the social network. But the rights to show the video at the same time were not transferred - the information application created by the film company works in the social network, and you can watch a film or series on a separate VKontakte website. VGTRK agreed to transfer VKontakte the right to broadcast content over the player of the social network.
Over the past years, VGTRK and VKontakte have repeatedly sued due to copyright violations. However, after the arrival of the acting general director of VKontakte, Boris Dobroduev, all the conflicts between the social network and the television company ceased.
