Svyatoslav Igorevich Belza was born in 1942 in Chelyabinsk, graduated from the Slavic department of the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University, worked as a scientific employee of the Institute of World Literature (IMLI) for more than 30 years, in 1979-1989, part -time was the observer of the Literary Newspaper for foreign culture.
As a musical critic Belza became widely known in 1987-1996, when he conducted the program “Music on the air” on ORT. During this period, he also led the studio of musical and entertainment programs of the Ostankino RGTRK.
Svyatoslav Belza conducted a cycle of programs “Masterpieces of the World Musical Theater” on the channel “Culture”. He worked on this television channel since its founding in 1997, was the host of the Great Ballet and Romance Romance programs.
In 1993 and 1998, Belza was the chairman of the jury of the CIS Cinema Festival and the Baltic Cinema, he also headed the jury of the Bunin Prize - awards in the field of Russian literature awarded since 2005.
