In April 2013, the department said, prosecutors have already revealed the fact of the financing of Agora by the US State Department. Then, in response to the submission with a request to register an agent of the NPO, she noticed that the agreement with the State Department terminated, and returned the money received. “However,” the prosecutor’s office says, “in fact, the Agora foreign financing has not stopped, and the specified organization continues to receive funds under other reports on foreign states, including the United States.”

In response, the head of the association accused the prosecutor of the "spread of false information." “Agora does not receive any money from foreign states, and at the same time never received them from the US State Department,” Open Information Agency reports the words of Chikov.

The social activist regarded the prosecutor's office as "unreasonable interference in the work of human rights organization and revenge for the fundamental position to defend the rights and legitimate interests of non -governmental organizations of Russia, for the second year repeling the attacks of prosecutors throughout the country." Chikov recalled that in July 2013, Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika complained about Agora to Vladimir Putin.

“The prosecutor’s office considers the political activity of Agora’s political activity,” the head of the association added. The special irritation of the supervisory authority causes, according to him, a complaint about the Law on Agents, filed by the Association to the Constitutional Court.
