On June 6, having landed on the Normandy coast, in NATO rear, Vladimir Putin spoke twice with the elected President of Ukraine Peter Poroshenko

“I’m not going to run from anyone and, of course, will communicate with everyone,” Vladimir Putin said in an interview with French journalists on the eve of a trip to Normandy, answering the question of the possibility of meeting with Peter Poroshenko. In fact, their meeting was secretly prepared by Francois Hollande and Angel Merkel. Benuville, France, June 6, 2014 /Photo: Mikhail Metzel /ITAR-TASS
At the same time, they exchanged a handshake only once, but when there was no handshake, they spoke on the go for a few minutes. Moreover, in the presence of Chancellor, Angel Merkel, with whom the handshake also took place and which, in turn, was one of the initiators of the meeting of Putin - Poroshenko. The second initiator was French President Francois Hollande, who greeted Putin twice, and once not on the 6th, but on June 5, on the day when Putin flew to France, and both were without ties, fed, after dinner. And yet the main thing: on the same day, the 5th, at a meeting with Putin at the Paris airport, British Prime Minister Cameron did not say hello to the President of Russia in the presence of cameras, although at the end of the meeting, in their absence, he held out his hand. But the least information about whether Putin and Obama greeted the hand, which, as Putin himself admitted, in Normandy managed to talk twice twice.
Colleagues-journalists love to savor details and details, in each of them they see either the devil or the gnome of good hope. It seems to representatives of our State Propaganda that with each new handshake Putin brings the happy moment of the breakthrough of the political blockade, which Russia arranged for the West, who does not understand anything, as they believe, in the hidden essence of Russian-Ukrainian relations. “Colleagues-Westers”, in turn, are looking for confirmation of demonstrative coldness in relation to Putin-the colder, the faster Moscow recovers, recognizes the victory of Poroshenko, pacify the militias in eastern Ukraine, or even return Crimea.

| Putin and Obama twice, though accurately, spoke in Normandy. It is unlikely that these were pleasant interviews that this photograph clearly demonstrates. France, Benuville, June 6, 2014 |
But for a person who is accustomed to manage a huge country single -handedly and uncontrolled, convinced of his strength, exclusivity and a special mission, which is increasingly making decisions alone with himself and convinced that the world is arranged exactly as the relations of the gigantic sums of business entities in Russia are arranged for each other and in no other way - for such a person, a handshake, smiles, a smile, leaflets. gestures, protocol, priority, delay and even the official menu - dust, vanity fusses.
He, by the nature of the previous activity, was used to capturing the invisible eyes - emanations. General mood. Attitude. Perspective. Finally, trust. But here's the bad luck: what he caught is instantly reflected on his face.
Look at the photocations from Normandy. They will tell you a lot about the fact that how the situation around Ukraine is really developing now. And it is not easy for Putin: opportunities for choosing solutions are bought as shagen skin. A day before Normandy, the West in an ultimatical form gave him exactly four weeks for de -escalation, otherwise - sanctions against key sectors of the Russian economy, the strength of which is less and less.
The problem, however, is that, even having fulfilled the conditions of an ultimatum, he will not restore his previous confidence in himself.
For example, he gives an order to withdraw troops from the border with Ukraine, and they, in the West, before somehow clearly respond, are waiting for a day, two-suddenly there is no real order? And suddenly these troops are like those “green men” in the Crimea: either they are not and they are not ours, then they are still ours and stand behind the back of Crimean self-defense.
In Normandy, he is asked where the militias near Lugansk and Donetsk have a modern weapon that can shoot down the helicopters of the Ukrainian army, and he starts the old one - the times of conquering Crimea without a single shot - a record about the fact that all this can be bought - after all, did you not know in this world, did you not know? And in general there are no our citizens there, there Ukrainians are fighting with Ukrainians ...
To the “gap of values”, which in recent years they blamed as on the main brake of our relations with the West, “rupture of reality” was added.
Of course, sooner or later the Ukrainian crisis will end. What will happen to Russia as a solid, responsible and reputable world player - this is the question.
