The State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Ivan Nikitchuk introduced a draft law to the Lower Chamber to ban the sale of tobacco products to women who have not reached 40 years of age, as well as women of any age in the presence of "their young minor children." The document is registered and sent to the speaker Sergey Naryshkin.

As stated in the explanatory note, "the development and introduction of this bill was dictated by the need for all -terrible protection of motherhood and childhood, including from the harmful consequences of tobacco consumption." "Female smoking hits the reproductive system of the body, which represents irreparable damage to the genetic fund of the nation," Nikitchuk noted.

According to the draft law, tobacco sellers, if they have doubts at the age of the buyer, will have to demand a passport from her. Having made sure that the buyer is not yet 40 years old or her children have not reached the age of 14, sellers will be obliged to refuse her vacation of goods.

For the sale of tobacco products to women under 40 years old or mothers, whose children are younger than 14 years old, are provided for administrative fines: from 3 to 5 thousand rubles for individuals, from 30 to 50 thousand for officials and from 100 to 150 thousand for enterprises.

Meanwhile, the head of the Duma Health Committee Zhirinovets Sergey Kalashnikov has already criticized the bill, calling it "criminal." “This is a complete segregation of women under 40 years old and women generally,” the words of Kalashnikov reports RIA Novosti. “They are exposed here by people incapable, second grade and so on.” The head of the committee added that "in a normal society of deputies would be called to answer for this."
