Iran refused McFolo a visa

Michael McFolu, the former US Assistance in Russia was refused to issue an entry visa to Iran, reports ITAR-TASS.

“I planned to go to Iran this week to participate in the conference, but today I learned that I was refused a visa issuing,” McFol said on Twitter.

Turning to the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani, he wrote that "he was looking forward to the day when he could re -arrive" to the Islamic Republic, and also noted that his "previous visit to the country in 2005 was amazing."

The ex-Posol of the United States in Russia left his post in February 2014. Who will be put forward in his place by President Barack Obama is still unknown. McFol is not a personnel diplomat. Until December 2011, he was the chief adviser to Obama in Russia, and earlier a professor of political science at Stanford University. He was approved to the post of US Ambassador in Moscow in December 2011, and in February 2014 he announced his resignation. Macfol speaks Russian, Portuguese and Polish.
