No meetings or negotiations on gas issues between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine are not planned today or in the near future. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports .
“The Russian side did not receive invitations about meetings or negotiations,” Peskov explained. He added that the Russian side intends to clarify what Gunther Ettinger had in mind in energy.
Earlier on June 11, Ettinger said that Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko will already begin negotiations on the gas issue on Wednesday. He did not bring other details. Ettinger added that within 48 hours the date of the next round of gas consultations between the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the European Union, which will be held in the previous format, at the level of energy ministers, will be set.
On June 11, the negotiations of Moscow and Kyiv, with the participation of the EU, were again completed to no avail: the parties could not finally agree on gas prices. Russia offered Ukraine a discount of $ 100 from the final cost of fuel (this means that the price for Kyiv will be $ 385 per thousand cubic meters), but Ukraine still insists on reducing the price to the level of the first quarter ($ 268.5 per thousand cubic meters).
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk in response called the “trap” discount proposed by the Russian Federation, noting that the Russian government can easily cancel the benefits as appointing them. The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yuri Prodan added that Kyiv "had the only way to settle the gas crisis - his removal in Stockholm arbitration." Later Sold added that acceptable for Ukraine is the price of gas "in the range from $ 268.5 to $ 385 per thousand cubic meters."
In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if Ukraine rejects the proposals of the Russian Federation for gas, which are “more than partnerships”, Moscow will switch to other relations with Kiev. Putin emphasized that the conditions of the contract proposed by the Russian side were the same that the government of Viktor Yanukovych received.
