Gazprom introduced a prepayment regime for Ukraine

Gazprom introduced a prepayment regime in gas supplies for Kyiv due to non-debt non-binding. This is stated in the message on the website of the concern.

The company did not specify whether supplies to Ukraine were terminated, but noticed that payments for June had not yet been received.

Earlier in the Russian concern, it was stated that if until 10:00 Moscow time on June 16, the Ukrainian side would not pay $ 1.9 billion on debt account, then the gas will be supplied only after payment. Gazprom repeatedly postponed the transition to the prepayment, the last negotiations with the Ukrainian side ended in Kiev at 2:30 Moscow time on the night of June 16. The total debt of Ukraine is $ 4.4 billion.

At the press conference broadcast by RT, the official representative of Gazprom Sergey Kupriyanov said that the company will file a lawsuit against Naftogaz of Ukraine in Stockholm arbitration for the entire debt. He added that Moscow expects Kiev to fulfill all gas transit obligations to Europe.

In Kyiv, they refused to extinguish the debt until the completion of negotiations on the price of gas. Moscow did not adopt the proposal of the European Commission, which was a third party in the negotiations, on the establishment of a tariff of $ 326 per thousand cubic meters. For its part, Gazprom invited Ukraine to pay $ 385 for a thousand cubic meters, taking into account a discount of $ 100. This proposal was rejected, in Kyiv they referred to the fact that Moscow could cancel a discount at any time.

On June 13, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk ordered that the relevant departments prepare to stop the supply of Russian gas from June 16. Naftogaz of Ukraine said that the country would have enough its own reserves until October 2014, the company also planned to increase the reverse supply of gas from Europe. Yatsenyuk also instructed the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to prepare a lawsuit against Gazprom in Stockholm arbitration in connection with the overestimation of gas tariffs.
