The United Group Eksmo and AST agreed on the purchase of the Proof educational literature publishing house. About this with reference to the chairman of the board of directors of Drofa, Alexander Kondakov, reports Kommersant.
On June 11, the Federal Antimonopoly Service allowed AST to purchase 61% at Drofa LLC and 100% of Drofa Holding LLC. The transaction, according to Kondakov, will be closed "in the near future."
The amount of the contract is not reported, but the source of the newspaper in the publishing market explained that Drofu could estimate at $ 50–70 million. The interlocutor of the publication noted that the market of consumer literature is now narrowing, while the training aids bring stable profits.
In 2012, Drofu wanted to purchase another large Russian publishing house, Olma, which had previously bought the release of the Enlightenment textbooks. Then doubts regarding the decision of the FAS were expressed, since in the case of the acquisition of the “Droof”, the Olma Publishing House would control 51% of the approved Ministry of Education and Science of Textbooks for the School.
In 2013, in 2013, according to the Book Industry, there were 3.62% of the total Russian book market. The total share of Eksmo and AST, which united in 2012, amounted to more than 24%.
