Leviathan will not open the Russian MMKF program

Contrary to expectations, on June 20, at the opening of the Russian Cinema Program of the 36th Moscow International Film Festival (MMKF), Andrei Zvyagintsev’s film “Leviathan” will not be shown.

This was announced at a press conference in Moscow, the curator of the program Irina Pavlova, ITAR-TASS reports. “We persuaded, invited, but did not work out,” Pavlova said.

Instead of Leviathan, the Russian program will be opened by Mikhail Segal’s painting “Kino about Alekseev” with Alexander Zbruyev in the title role.
