
Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held telephone conversations on Tuesday evening, according to the Kremlin website. "The heads of state discussed topical issues of bilateral relations. The topic of a possible ceasefire in the combat area in the southeast of Ukraine is affected," the Kremlin press service said.
In addition, Putin "expressed concern" in connection with the death of journalists from VGTRK Igor Korneluk and Anton Voloshin in the Lugansk region . He announced the need for "unconditional security" of media workers working in the war zone in Ukraine.
Poroshenko, for his part, expressed his condolences and assured the interlocutor that he would order an investigation of the death of journalists, as well as take measures to ensure the safety of media representatives.
Earlier on Tuesday, the UN Security Council accepted a statement in which he expressed anxiety in connection with the ongoing cases of the death of journalists in Ukraine, as well as the detention of media representatives. According to RIA Novosti, after the publication of this statement, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yuri Sergeyev spoke. He noticed that Korneluk and Voloshin, contrary to the recommendations of the Kyiv authorities, worked in the zone of military operations without protective equipment.
