In Romania, there is a trial of the head of the communist regime prison

The Romanian prosecutor's office announced the upcoming court over the 88-year-old former head of the communist prison in the city of Rymnik-Serat in the southeast of the country. Alexander Vishinescu is accused of crimes against humanity.

He was the head of the prison from 1956 to 1963 - during the period of the most strong repressions against dissidents. The investigation found that prisoners of prisons commanded Vishinescu were subjected to physical and mental torture, lost food and medical care.

The prosecutor's office established the individuals of 138 former prisoners, including representatives of the intelligentsia, clergy and political parties.

From 1945 to 1989 in Romania, more than 600 thousand people were repressed for political reasons.
