The annexation of Crimea and Russian aggression in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions were prepared with the participation of the fugitive ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. This was announced in an interview with "Day" by the head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaichenko.

The special services chief said that from December 2013 to the end of February 2014, three groups of high -ranking FSB officers worked in the SBU structure. “During these months, all modern weapons, personal affairs, archives - all that the professional special services is based on was taken to Simferopol,” the head of the SBU noted.

Nalivaichenko added that the special services responsible for protecting the state under Yanukovych were flooded with the Russian agent, and in February 2014 they planned to accelerate the Euromaidan, accompanied by the execution of the demonstrators. In preparation of the execution, the head of the SBU accused the then leadership of the Department of Protection of statehood, as well as other high -ranking special services generals.

"All this indicates that Moscow, together with Yanukovych, was systematically and long ago prepared for the annexation of Crimea and the events taking place today in the Donbass," Nalyvaichenko concluded.

A number of criminal cases have been instituted against Yanukovych. He is accused of massacres of citizens, the seizure of state property, the unconstitutional seizure of power, actions aimed at the overthrow of the constitutional system. In early April, the then acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleg Makhnitsky said that Yanukovych personally gave the order to shoot Euromaidanists on February 20 in Kiev on February 20 in Kyiv.

The overthrown president is hiding in Russia. At the same time, in April, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said that Moscow would not issue Yanukovych Kyiv. The official explained that he "does not see the grounds" for this.
