The “Gaming Mania” fan community on VKontakte decided to hold a competition dedicated to the E3 gaming exhibition. Community members were invited to make their own cosplay of characters from the announced games. Young gamers showed the full power of their imagination, no matter what.

After Amazon attracted the attention of the whole world with the release of its own “3D smartphone” Fire Phone , it’s time to remember what this American company is famous for - in addition to the fact that not so long ago it was among the top 10 by market value of global IT -corporations.

It turned out that Amazon is not only an online book store and Kindle reader, but also a whole ecosystem of other services: video, clothing, music streaming, jewelry, fresh food delivery, and now also smartphones.

Stand on the path true

The niche social network Path has undergone dramatic changes: the previously narrow-minded application for closest friends has turned into a competitor to Facebook. In this sense, Path began to copy even the Internet giant's recently formed philosophy of dividing core functions into different applications: personal messages were transferred to the Path Talk application - there is one for iOS and Android, so you can put it on the Fire Phone.

What’s most interesting is that Path is going to monetize due to the strange possibility of direct access to the support service of various companies: the user will be able to write a message to her, and processing the question (and waiting on the line to the tunes of immortal classics) will fall on the shoulders of the social network’s employees.

Terrible news that makes many people feel very old: this week marks exactly 15 years since the release of the first version of Counter-Strike. TJournal recalled the story of its creator, Ming Lee, who became so carried away by the modification of Half-Life that he later went to work for Valve.

My exhausted homophily

Candidate of physical and mathematical sciences and co-founder of the SMM agency “Shaggy Cheese” Andrey Konyaev wrote a column for TJournal about the scientific basis for why his Facebook feed turned into shit (homosexuality has nothing to do with it).

The text contains such concepts as “structural functionalism”, “heterophilic environment” and “fuck it” - admittedly, we don’t know all of them. But Konyaev makes it clear that those friends who write uninteresting posts will still have to be deleted if you want to put your feed in order.

An interview with a man of many credentials - the technical director of the Bash.im (Bashorg), Zadolbali and IT Happens projects, and at the same time the co-founder of Lurkomorya. Konstantin Grusha, better known as Zoi, told stories about the RuNet of the mid-2000s, talked about his attitude towards anonymous services - “Dvach”, Secret and “Podslushano” - and also shared plans for introducing new functions on his projects.

Lying goats and MAC addresses

A short but succinct column from the author of the Techdirt tech blog, Michael Masnik, about double standards in the legislation of the Internet industry. Masnik noted that Apple's recently launched initiative in iOS 8 to replace device MAC addresses with random ones (spoofing) was met very favorably. Internet activist Aaron Schwartz, who did the same, was suspected of suspicious activities: the authorities clamped down on him, including for spoofing, and in January 2013 he committed suicide.

Cannes Lions 2014: Part One

The Cannes Lions advertising festival took place all last week, and TJournal chose the most interesting among the first batch of nominations. The Russians have already won the first ever Grand Prix in the Innovation category - this award was awarded to the Axis agency for the MegaFon pavilion in Sochi, which allows you to take 3D selfies.

Other Russian advertising agencies also received awards, and among many interesting videos, the campaign for the fashion brand Harvey Nichols was memorable.

Wikipedia has undergone changes that are invisible to the naked eye: the encyclopedia has forced all authors who receive money for writing articles on the site to report. As it turned out, such a business has existed for a long time and successfully, causing many notes about various companies and newsmakers to appear on Wikipedia.
