TJournal has aged

On June 20 our project turned 3 years old. We didn’t celebrate much - it’s too early to be proud. However, we dug into the designer's drawer and remembered how our project has changed visually and ideologically since its inception.

Nowadays, no one except gray-haired elders will remember what the letter T in the name TJournal meant, but it’s easy to see by looking at the old design layouts of the project.

The pictures are arranged in chronological order, but it is no longer possible to reconstruct the exact dates. All texts that you can see on the layouts are examples chosen or created by our designer. Don't be alarmed.

On the next layout, the “From the Editors” section appeared for the first time, the first material in which was an interview with blogger Evgeny Kozlov . Now the date there is January 12, 2012 - it seems that this is the day when we moved from the old admin area to the new one. In fact, the interview was conducted sometime in July 2011.

After a few months, we got so excited about the editorials that we split them into separate subdomains. Our very first leaks (for example, “ Tinkov was offended on Vkontakte ”, “ Kandelaki against Solovyov ” or “ Twitter masters taught Popik a lesson ”) are still in the old layout, which emanates nostalgia.

Meanwhile, our robot Adam appeared on the main page - a program that analyzes Twitter and gives a rating of popular tweets. This symbolized our technology and the automation of the site - we only observed how the algorithm worked and occasionally adjusted it.

After we exported our Twitter account analysis widget for friendly publications Slon.ru and Zuckerberg Will Call, we had to think about a detailed description of what we had done here and why.

Recently, there haven't been many external changes on the project. But this is not because we don’t love you. On the contrary: we looked at all this and decided to rewrite the project from scratch. Because we are never afraid to start over and experiment.

We hope that this fall TJournal will become something fundamentally new for everyone. Thank you for still being with us.
