Pokrovsky Theater will represent "Stabat Mater"

On June 28 and 29, the Moscow State Academic Chamber Musical Theater named after B.A. Pokrovsky closes the season with premiere - the stage version of the Cantata Percheles "Stabat Mater".

The essay, on which the composer worked literally until the last days of his life, was written for the brotherhood of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Seven Sorrow in Naples. It is difficult for a modern listener to evaluate the innovation of Pergolets, who was the first to venture to give the spiritual composition such an elegant and brilliant concert form.

This is evidenced by the assessment of Padre Martini, who said that “Stabat Mater” Pergolesi contains too many passages that could rather be used in some comic opera than in the song of sorrow. ” Indeed, the concert component is very strong in this music, and the question of a combination of “church” and “theatrical” styles is still relevant so far.

Director Olga Ivanova has repeatedly turned to the masterpiece of Pergolets. In the Chamber Musical Theater, she offered a completely new look at Stabat Mater . In the Commonwealth with artists Victor and Danil Gerasimenko, she created a complex multimedia project, thanks to which reality and virtual world are connected on the stage, a new multidimensional space helps to deeperly involve the viewer into what is happening.

“Stabat Mater” is executed with the participation of the choir, the editorial office of the score was made by the musical director of the production by Vladimir Agronsky and conductor Ayrat Kashaev. Solo parties will be performed by the leading young artists of the troupe: Ekaterina Fersba, Tatyana Koninskaya, Veta Pilipenko and Maria Patrusheva.
