Why is America not Russia

It is clear that the work as a special representative of Poroshenko in Donetsk is an unattractive occupation for a 75 -year -old Kuchma. Nevertheless, he communicates with them, and when negotiations predictably come to a dead end, it turns out that these meetings do not at all gravitate the former head of state. On the contrary, he perceives his work as an important mission. He draws conclusions and shares with the surrounding different thoughts in this subject. In particular, he calls the United States of America the " most reliable ally " of Ukraine.

His words should be listened to, although they are drowned out by the roar of war.

The fact is that Leonid Danilovich Kuchma is an ideal Soviet man. The former secretary of the party committee, and then the director of the Dnepropetrovsk missile plant "Yuzhmash", where the nuclear shield of their beloved homeland was forged day and night. That is, a classic strong business executive of those who easily repainted in perestroika times, and then, after the collapse of the indestructible union, went into politics, so that, like Luzhkov, to push too romantic and talkative liberals away from the imperious feeder with a soft movement of the shoulder. By the way, Luzhkova Kuchma personally awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise "for a special contribution to the development of cooperation between Ukraine and Russia", that is, for billions of investments in Sevastopol. And shortly before the Orange Revolution.

In other words, Leonid Danilovich has always been an ideologically mobile person, which is typical of Homo sovieticus. And when the scandal erupted about the murder of journalist Gongadze and the world, the famous films were revealed, the president of Ukraine on the move took a trace of customers of this special match. The murder of Gongadze, Kuchma said, is a "CIA conspiracy." And after, during the “Kuchmagate”, when he had to make a choice between the interests of Russia and Ukraine, he also did not particularly hesitate, sending Yulia Tymoshenko to prison - Premiere Yushchenko. And he quickly turned into a puppet, jacking with his hands and hands at the hand of the Kremlin puppeteer and pronouncing a mantra about the CIA’s conspiracy from time to time. And when it was time to dictate Putin to put forward as president Viktor Yanukovych, Kuchma dutifully fulfilled this order.

The 2004 Maidan was shocked by Leonid Danilovich. The main misfortune was not that Viktor Fedorovich had to support Viktorovich until the last. And then, much later, when they will catch and judge the participants of the murder of Gongadze, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the ex-Minister of the Interior on the eve of the arrest allegedly committed suicide, Kuchma will probably figure out that they were not agents of Langley. It’s painful. The addresses and turnouts were more likely Moscow, and the greatest benefit from the scandal was removed in the Kremlin, but this version remained only at the level of rumors, accompanying the not completely disclosed case. In any case, Kuchma in time spoke about the "foreign trace" in the Gongadze case, no longer specifying.

Today he declares the United States the "most reliable ally" of Ukraine, and in these words, if desired, you can hear hypocritical Soviet notes, but much more here is another feeling. Feelings that are united by the vast majority of huge people in the face of foreign aggression and civil war. This is a feeling of powerlessness and despair. The voice of Kuchma today speaks millions of Ukrainian citizens exhausted by the war, and if help in the fight against the invader can only be found in Washington and Brussels, no closer, then, then, there should be contacted by a partner in the upcoming coalition. The former ideal Soviet person, the former faithful ally of the Kremlin, the author of the book about Ukraine, which is not Russia, is being addressed there.

By the way, this is another illustration of that banal thought that many have already clearly formulated, but not a sin to repeat. Having captured the Crimea, humiliating and continuing to torment Ukraine, Vladimir Putin is struggling to bring that geopolitical disaster, which he spoke about such a tear in relation to the twentieth century. And if yesterday, Russia, losing Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries, paid for the accounts of past centuries, now, now parting with Ukraine (in line Kazakhstan and Belarus), pays for the political madness of today's owners of the Kremlin. Moreover, before, in the days of kings and tyrants, with the mute people, guilt could still be dumped on power. Now that the so -called Putin in the era of the Internet and constitutional freedoms support 80% of voters, to justify himself much more difficult. The TV is an inanimate object, and you can’t take it to the future as a softening circumstance.

Of course, the call for help to the United States does not mean effective assistance, and the recent scandal with the Polish wiretapping testifies very convincingly. However, not only the speeches of unrestrained Poles, but also Russian ears sticking out of their mobile phones are the subject of loud discussion. And only from America and the West it generally depends on how much bitter truth was in those overheard words. Or an involuntary lies, if we assume that the most reliable ally of the Slavic peoples is ready to defend their independence in confrontation with the older brother. In general, reliability is in question, and I want to believe that Barack Obama will not deceive the hopes of the finally celebrated Leonid Kuchma.
