About 600 thousand users of the Facebook social network were subjected to a psychological experiment, without suspecting anything about this. The creators of the social network decided to check how the news flow affects the thinking of users. And now they say that the more good news in the tape, the easier on readers, RIA Novosti reports with reference to The Daily Telegraph .
Experts conducted a random selection of more than half a million users and divided them into two groups. There were more positive news in the tape of some, others have more negative ones. Then the emotional characteristics of the subjects of the subjects were calculated.
“When the number of positive phrases was reduced, people less often published positive statuses, when they removed negative records from news tapes, this gave the opposite effect. The results of the experiment indicate that the emotions expressed by people on Facebook affect our own,” a group of researchers said on the pages of the US magazine, the official body of the US National Academy of Science.
From a legal point of view, everything was legal, since each user of the social network is signed under the terms of the user agreement, according to which the company has the right to change the contents of the site at its discretion, including changing the algorithms for issuing messages.
However, there is no unambiguous opinion about the results of such an impact. For example, some scientists are sure that the predominance of positive news makes users who are accustomed to correlate with their lives, to feel flawed, according to the ADME portal in the material about the problems of 25 -year -olds - the so -called generation Y.
