Birth of "shells"

The garage-“shell” is not the most obvious, but almost the most accurate symbol of the 90s: the cooperative-communal dramas of the heroes of the Ryazanovsky “garage” were replaced by the triumph of private property. The availability, cheapness, ease of use, ensuring the safety of the car and a purely functional design, which later caused mass discontent of citizens, - as soon as possible, the “shells” changed the appearance of Russian cities. The “Museum of the 90s” managed to find the man who invented this garage-and at the same time he found his original patent in the archive.

Then I often visited Moscow on business trips, usually spent the night at the Ryazan Prospekt metro, walked across the bridge - and there were garages, or rather, not garages, but a parking lot under the bridge. And that only I did not see in this parking lot: both tents and tarpaulin on top of the cars are stretched, some cars were covered with boards and plywood. I often walked, looked around-each time something new would adapt, and then this idea arose-to create such a box so that no one would bother and take up space. It was called officially a shelter, not a garage, and in the common people it was nicknamed the “shell” and “soap”. And the most amazing, as I was told, not a single car was stolen from these shelters.

At first we made a prototype - my mother -in -law in the village stood the same for a long time, then we established production, and a mass of mass began after a year and a half. The first buyer was some Moscow businessman. In Samara, the "soap dishes" did not particularly take root, here it is more long with the ground and garages, but in Moscow they were popularly popularized-they started with the release of thirty in April of the 89th year, and then went to volumes a thousand a month. In the 90s, cash at the plant came only from the sale of “shells”, it was the only source-people survived, worked without abbreviations and received salaries as before, twice a month, only thanks to them. Our factory was saved by these garages.

However, folk thought did not calm down with the invention of the garage-“shells”-all 90s were in attempt to first improve the model, and then offer its new options. The “Museum of the 90s” chose the most original projects of garages from the extensive base of Rospatent.

To open the standard “shell”, it was necessary to have significant physical strength. The creators of this model tried to correct the drawback: with the help of rails and rollers, it was supposed to simply shift half the garage. To do this, I had to supplement the structure with a folding end wall on the mobile part. But the shelves were hung on the rear fixed wall, so the garage became possible to use not only the car.

Mini-park for cars

As the number of machines and problems associated with their storage on the street increased, intricate projects of fleets began to appear, which, with a minimum area, could contain the maximum number of machines. This model, created on the principle of the Ferris wheel, was supposed to be equipped with a mechanical drive for autonomy.

Garage with retail space

An attempt to aesthetically and useful to use the area occupied by machines. If you raise the garages to the second floor by making an entrance to them on the ramp, then the first can be used for stores or stalls.

Invisible garage

The telescopic version of the “shell”, in which the sections connected through the hinges are folded into a special niche in the ground and are closed with a lid - thus, in the absence of a car, the garage could be almost invisible.

The shelter model, consisting of a column-tape and a cobber-skinage with stretch marks. It was assumed that the visor will be made of waterproof material, and a device for pulling and stretching the canopy will be hidden inside the column.
