The government is considering the possibility of legalizing an Internet poker in Russia. Since the issue is of great social significance, the final decision will depend on public opinion, Kommersant reports.

The source of the publication, familiar with the position of supporters of the legalization of the online poker, claims that the legalization of poker can bring the budget an additional two to three billion rubles in the first year. After a couple of years, five billion rubles may exceed.

According to the sources of the publication, the First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov instructed the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Justice to analyze the possibility of legalizing an Internet poker. In the apparatus of Shuvalov, they confirmed that the order was given, the term of execution is July 21.

Deputy Minister of Finance Alexei Moiseev admitted that the Ministry of Finance, who is responsible for state policy in the field of gambling, is dealing with the issue, but refused to discuss the position of the ministry. The Ministry of Economy, according to spokesman Elena Lashkina, has already presented his opinion, recognizing the appropriate study of "issues of legislative regulation of activities on the organization and conduct of intellectual and commercial games, including poker on the Internet."

The Ministry of Economy considers it “necessary to conduct scientific and mathematical examinations that allow us to draw unequivocal conclusions about the gambling or non -azing nature of the poker game.”

A federal official, familiar with the problem, told the publication that the issue is considered not only with an economic, but also from a social point of view. Therefore, according to him, Shuvalov instructed the All-Russian University to conduct a survey that would find out the attitude of society to the possible legalization of the online poker. The results of the survey will be taken into account when making a final decision.
