
The gambling zone in Sochi is still being created. This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to the editorial office of the text of amendments to the bill to the bill on the opening of the gambling zone in the occupied Crimea. On Friday, this bill,introduced in April Vladimir Putin , will pass the second and, possibly, the third reading. By the second reading of the document, the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy adopted amendments regarding Sochi. The committee members approved them unanimously, the sources of the publication say.
Amendments give the government the right to create in the Krasnodar Territory the gambling zone in the territory of Olympic facilities built at the expense of investors, including state -owned companies and state banks. To do this, the regional authorities should apply to the White House with the appropriate offer. Another gambling zone in the region - in Anapa - in this case will be closed.
The amendments were made to the State Duma of the Dominos deputy, the ex-champion of the world on chess Anatoly Karpov. Meanwhile, a certain federal official calls the actual initiator of their development. It was reported that at the beginning of this week, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak introduced Putin with a proposal to create a gambling zone in Sochi. “If the Duma committee held an amendment about Sochi, then a signal from the administration came that the idea of the government was supported,” the source said.
Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that his cartridge really instructed the White House to work out the issue of opening the gambling zone in Sochi. Nevertheless, Peskov added, he does not know about the adoption of any specific decisions in this regard.
According to other federal officials, the government intends to open the gambling zone on the territory of the Gornaya Karusel complex in the village of Esto-Sadok in Krasnaya Polyana. This complex belongs to the company "Krasnaya Polyana", 92 percent of which Sberbank owns. A certain employee of the presidential administration confirmed that the gambling zone is likely to really appear there.
The representative of Sberbank refused to comment. Meanwhile, the source of Vedomosti, close to the bank, called the idea of reasonable. He recalled that the president of Sberbank in the winter addressed Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with the relevant proposal, but the head of government did not support him then.
In December 2013, the media, on the contrary, reported that Medvedev proposed to open the gambling zone in Sochi to load the Olympic objects built there after the end of the games. However, later on the same day, Prime Minister’s press secretary Natalya Timakova denied this information . According to the official, "the idea was expressed by one of the representatives of the banking community," but did not receive support. Gref Timakov did not name the surname.
