Marina Razbozhkina's students refused to participate in Russian festivals

Pupils of the School of Documentary Cinema Marina Razbuzhkina will not participate in Russian film festivals. It is reported by Razbizhkina herself. Such a decision was a response to the law, which prohibits public shows that have not received a rental certificate of films. The law entered into force on July 1. It also applies to paintings created without the support of the Ministry of Culture.

Festival and club shows do not belong to the film distribution, emphasizes Razkhkin. In her opinion , the requirement for this rental certificate is a manifestation of censorship.

On May 5, President Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for the introduction of fines for the use of obscene vocabulary in television and radio, in the film distribution and in the public performance of works of art. In the case of using obsceneity in the film, the law establishes a ban on issuing a picture of a rental certificate.

One of the articles makes amendments to the law "On state support of cinematography." It is supplemented by an article that prohibits any public show of a film that does not have a rental certificate in Russia. The exception was made only for foreign films imported for showing at the International Film Festival.

Pupils of the School of Documentary Cinema Marina Razbozhkina have repeatedly become participants and laureates of film festivals. So, the film "The Last Limousine" of the graduate of the school of Daria Khleskina received a prize for the best full-length documentary film of the Artdoxfest-2013 festival. The film "Winter, go away!" Created by Razbuzhkina with the students, was shown at more than 50 festivals.

In April, the show of the film "Children 404" was interrupted by "Orthodox activists" and the police. The film is dedicated to Russian LGBT teenage, which society is trying to displace from life. The police cordoned off the hall and checked the documents from those present. Nevertheless, the show of the film was resumed. One of the directors of the film, Askold Kurov is also a student of Razbuzhkina.
