
Judge of the Urus-Martan City Court of Chechnya Alexander Dubkov sentenced the president of the Assembly of the peoples of the Caucasus Ruslan Kutaev to four years of general regime. This was reported by the committee against torture. As the journalist Taus Serganov clarifies , a year of restriction of freedom after leaving the colony was appointed as an additional punishment. The case against a 57-year-old human rights activist was fabricated in part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code (illegal storage of drugs on a large scale without a sales target).
At the debate of the parties that took place on Friday , the prosecution requested five years of general regime for Kutaev. The defense insisted on fully justification of the defendant for the lack of a crime event. Kutaev himself also refused to admit guilt, emphasizing that his persecution was politically motivated.
The prosecution was supported by the prosecutor of the Urus-Martan district Arbi Bakhanoev and his deputy Ramzan Dzhabrailov. Lawyers Petr Zaikin and Ilyas Temishev defended Politsek.

"Officials who are in official quality repeatedly subjected Ruslan Kutaev to the illegal physical impact, which caused him strong physical and moral suffering in order to force him to give a confession in the criminal case," the human rights activists said.
On April 25, the Urus-Martan City Court began to consider Kutaev’s case on the merits. The police officers interrogated in the process were confused in the circumstances of the detention of Kutaev. They could not explain to the court exactly how agreed and from whom specifically the order was received to detain the human rights activist.
On June 2, the neurologist, who conducted the examination of Kutaev, said that she did not know who had inscribed in the protocol of information about the presence in the urine of the defendant Codein and Morphine. According to her, she did not do the sampling for analysis and she was also not performed by her laboratory research.
Bobotyev, involved in the case as a witness, said that Kutaev was detained at his house, and not on the street, as the police claim. No bag from Kutaev’s pocket was removed and the protocol was not compiled. The detention of Kutaev in the house of relatives, and not on the street, is confirmed by other circumstances.
On June 19, the Memorial human rights center recognized Kutaev as a political prisoner.
