Boxer from Uzbekistan Ruslan Chagaev won the title of "regular" world champion in version of the World Boxing Association (WBA) in heavyweight, defeating American Fres Okendo at Akhmat-Arena in Grozny.
Chagaev won the points. Two referees following the results of 12 rounds awarded the victory to the boxer from Uzbekistan (115-113), one put a draw (114-114).
As ITAR-TASS noted, in general, the duel turned out to be uninteresting, without bright events, the most dangerous of which for Chagaev was the dissection in the 6th round. However, Chagaev is still a little, but it was preferable to the opponent precisely thanks to the will to victory and the desire to present the victory to the fans, among whom was the president of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov. For the past few years, Chagaev has been engaged in the Grozny club "Akhmat".
Initially, the duel was supposed to take place on June 7, but it was moved to July 6. As the organizers of the battle specified, the delay was related to the birth of the OKDENDO of the child.
Ruslan Chagaev became the world champion of WBA a second time. For the first time he won this title in 2007, defeating Nikolai Valuev. In 2009, according to the results of the battle with Vladimir Klitschko, Chagaev lost his champion belt.
The opportunity to win the title again appeared in the fall of 2013, when the belt of the "regular" world of the WBA world became vacant. Then his owner Alexander Povetkin lost to Vladimir Klitschko. WBA has appointed a name for the title between the third rating number Chagaev and the fourth - Okendo.
