The new director of the Museum of Modern History of Russia has been appointed

Moskhordum deputy Irina Velikanova (United Russia) was appointed director of the State Central Museum of Modern History of Russia. She will replace Sergey Arkhangelov in this post.

It is reported by ITAR-TASS with reference to a source in museum circles.

Irina Velikanova graduated from the University of Leningrad, before being elected to the Moscow City Duma, she worked there as the head of the United Russia faction.

Deputy of the Moscow City Duma of the Fourth convocation (2005–2009). He was again elected a deputy in October 2009, was the deputy chairmen of the Mosgordumi Commission on Education and Youth Policy and the Commission on Social Policy and Labor Relations.

The Museum of Modern History of Russia (former Museum of Revolution) was founded more than 90 years ago. It is located in a mansion on Tverskaya Street - a monument of architecture of late classicism of the late XVIII century. From 1831 to 1917, it housed the Moscow English club.
