2013. Anton Antonov-Ovseenko died

A year ago, on July 9, 2013, at the age of 93, Anton Vladimirovich Antonov-Ovseenko, a historian, publicist, creator and first director of the State Museum of History of the Gulag, died. He was the son of a prominent revolutionary Vladimir Antonov-Ovseenko, who arrested the Provisional Government, and during the years of the "Great Terror" shot as the "enemy of the people." Anton Vladimirovich spent 13 years in prisons and camps. Since 1995, he led the Union of Organizations of Victims of Political Repressions of the Moscow Region.
