In 2009, against Kryukov for his publication with criticism of Russian statehood and the Russian Orthodox Church, the Investigative Committee at the prosecutor's office opened a case under Article 282 of the Criminal Code (arousal of hatred or enmity). The court decided to send the publicist to a stationary psychiatric examination, but he disappeared from the authorities . Nevertheless, two months later, the FSB detained Kryukov in the Nizhny Novgorod region, after which he was placed in a psychiatric hospital for a month. On the way to Ulyanovsk, special services, in particular, Alexei Garamov, threatened to deal with both the publicist himself and his children, as well as with the chief editor of ichkeria.info by political emigrant Musa Taipov. In 2010, the court found Kryukov guilty and fined it for 100 thousand rubles. The publicist refused to pay a fine for fundamental reasons.
