The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called "myths" the possible membership of the country in NATO and the influence of the United States on the ATO

The leadership of Ukraine develops its own strategy for the country's foreign policy. This was in an interview with Kommersant , said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin, promising that "as soon as the document is ready, it will be available to everyone."

"The priorities of the foreign policy of Ukraine are well known. The key of them is European integration. The strategy will be aimed at determining the place of Ukraine on the European continent and in an economically changing world," the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

Klimkin called the possible membership of the country in NATO "myths". "We have a clear position: today there is no this issue on the agenda." “The agenda, of course, may change,” the minister remarked at the same time. “Say, once Russia was not a member of BRICS, and now the Russian president is flying to Brazil for the summit of this association.”

According to Klimkin, the NATO topic is not discussed, because there is no appropriate consensus in Ukrainian society and political establishment. "In the meantime, it is not there, the movement in this direction cannot be imagined."

Klimkin also said that the United States has no influence on the Kyiv authorities on the issue of a power operation in the southeast of Ukraine. "When someone says that the United States gives us instructions what to do in our country, this is not even smiling with me," he said.

“One telephone conversation cannot change the political situation in Ukraine. We have our own very active domestic policy, and it is impossible to make some decisions without taking into account this factor,” he added. At the same time, Klimkin expressed the opinion that "the Russian side should use all possible and impossible methods and methods of influence on separatists."

“She should move them to a real dialogue with a focus on bilateral ceasefire, release hostages and control this situation from OSCE observers,” the minister added.

In addition, Klimkin rejected the accusations against Kyiv in connection with the death of civilians of the southeast of the country during a power operation, and shelling of the Russian territory. "Nobody shot civilians. Anti -terrorist operation is conducted selectively," he said. “Understand: we are not conducting military operations, this is not necessary, since we are talking about individual separatists grouping that control certain areas in cities. They need to be fought only by cutting off the perimeter of these cities,” the interlocutor of the publication continued.

He also stated that Kyiv does not intend to "attack Donetsk." “There are thousands and thousands of civilians. Nobody will enter residential quarters. At the same time, the separatists constantly use civilians as a live shield, there were many cases when they equipped fire points in hospitals and kindergartens. Once they used the Pension Fund for this,” says the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

Answering a question about the shelling of the village of Staraya Kondrashovka on July 2, as a result of which civilians were killed and wounded, Klimkin said: "I have no complete picture for each occasion, but in Kondrashovka, as I understand it, there were no attempts to conduct military operations against the civilian population. This would have no moral and practical basis."

Speaking about the facts of shelling of the Russian territory by Ukraine, Klimkin noted that "there were several cases of shelling of border points, but it was proved that the shelling was led by terrorists."

Also, the head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission, affirmatively answered the question of whether his words mean that none of the 13 cases of shelling of the Russian territory occurred due to the fault of the Kyiv security forces.

"There was a case when the Ukrainian armored personnel carrier drove into Russian territory as a result of a breakdown. And we naturally admitted this. And cases of shelling are the whole work of the separatists. I say this is not to be justified - everything is checked by our military," he said.
