Lithuanian President brought the oath

The President of Lithuania Dalya Gribauskaite, re -elected in May, took the oath in the Sejm (parliament of the country). According to ITAR-TASS , the head of state promised "to pay special attention to the country's defense capabilities."

“Military threats near Lithuania rallied us even more. Once again I vowed to protect the integrity of the Lithuanian lands, ”she said from the stand of the Sejm. According to Gribauskaite, Lithuania should be well prepared for defense, because only "being free and safe, we will be able to create our own state of universal well -being."

Another point of her speech was the fight against corruption. “Create, not destroy. To convince, not to deceive. Help, not harm. To make their contribution, and not use - these principles should be rooted in all areas of life of the country, ”the Lithuanian president expressed hope.

The presidential elections of Lithuania were held on the same day as in Ukraine - May 25.
