Tbilisi said goodbye to Eduard Shevardnadze

A farewell ceremony was held in Tbilisi for ex-President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze. This is reported by Novosti-Georgia . They said goodbye to the politician under a triple volley and the national anthem.

Shevardnadze was buried in a park on the territory of the Krtsanisi residence, where he spent the last years of his life. His wife Nanuli Shevardnadze was buried in the same place ten years ago.

The farewell ceremony was attended by members of the Georgian government, clergy and foreign delegates. The head of the Georgian church, Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, could not come to Tbilisi for the ceremony.

On July 7, former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadzde died after a long illness. He was 86 years old.
