Asphalting of the federal highway in Yakutia will be postponed due to Crimea

The Ministry of Finance of Russia proposed to cut the costs of modernizing the federal road Nevor - Yakutsk (M56 "Lena") in order to find funds for financing Crimea and Sevastopol. This was reported with reference to unnamed federal officials by the Vedomosti newspaper on July 14.

New constituent entities of the Federation can receive about 44 billion rubles, which were supposed to go to repair the highway in 2016-2020. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance explained that the final decision on the removal of funds from the federal target program “Development of the transport system” has not yet been made.

The Rosavtodor “Vedomosti” said that the reconstruction of the road involves primarily the laying of asphalt, which is absent on most of the route with a length of 1200 kilometers. In total, in 2014-2020, it is planned to spend 115 billion rubles on these needs.

The target reconstruction program of the M56 also involves the construction of a bridge across the Lena - now there is a ferry (in winter - ice) crossing. In May, the government offered to refuse the construction of the bridge, since the project was considered "not the number one priority." Then it became known that the seaport would not be built on the Taman Peninsula, since the necessary infrastructure on the Black Sea in Russia appeared with the annexation of Crimea.
