Rosneft and Yamal LNG deprived Gazprom Monopoly for the export of liquefied gas
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of companies that will be allowed to export liquefied natural gas. The document is published on the government website .
In addition to Gazprom and Gazprom Exports, Rosneft and Yamal LNG received the right to sell LNG abroad - a joint Novatek project (60%), the French Total (20%) and the structure of the Chinese CNPC (20%). The Ministry of Energy will issue export licenses.
Prior to the adoption of the law on the liberalization of exports by a monopolist in the sale of gas, Gazprom was to foreign consumers. According to the norms in force on December 1, 2013, Gazprom will maintain a monopoly only in terms of natural fuel pipelines, and liquefied gas exports will be allowed to those companies that have a license for the construction of the LNG plant, as well as organizations with a state share of at least 50%. These conditions are satisfied with the plants of Rosneft and Gazprom controlled by the state, as well as the independent Yamal LNG.
